West Boca Coalition For Kids FAST FACTS

Established:in 2000 by Boca Raton’s Promise - The Alliance for Youth

Purpose:to identify the needs of children and youth living in unincorporated Boca Raton and mobilize community members to develop needed resources.

"Theatrics” – West Boca Arts program


Project:West Boca Intergenerational Theater Arts


Funds for the project are provided through the Palm Beach County Recreation Assistance Program, Districts 4 & 5.


Purpose:To develop and support a community of cultural artists as they give voice to their ideas, feelings, and experiences through a multi-disciplinary spectrum of the arts. Activities will encourage creativity as a tool for personal and social transformation and bring affirmation and joy to the celebration of life.


Model:The Lovewell Institute for the Creative Arts serves as the training ground for instructor, Gary Wayne, and the demonstration model for Boca Raton’s Promise Arts Team. (www.lovewell.org.)


Project Description:The project is being developed in three stages. 1) Introductory -introduced as a weekly after-school program at Loggers Run Middle School on Fridays, starting January 9 and ending March 12. Exploring boundaries, extemporaneous lines, group theatrics with adult mentors, final presentation on school stage. 2) Intermediate - includes advanced techniques including scripting, staging, expression and demonstration of skills as determined by the instructor, final presentation of Intermediate Theater Skills, on May 28. 3) Summer Theatrics Camp - For ages 12-18 at Coral Sunset Elementary School from 9-3 PM starting July 19 for ten days, culminating with a show for on August 4 at Loggers Run Community School.
